About Me
Hi! I’m Katie, and I’m the owner and trainer behind Noble K9 Dog Training! Because I know how important it is for you to know who you are trusting your dog to, I wanted to share a little about myself, my background, and my philosophy.
I have been training dogs professionally for over 10 years. Growing up, I had dreamed of various careers where I could work with animals from being a veterinarian to working at the zoo to being a police department K9 handler. I started training my own horse when I was 12 and started training my first dog when I was 19. I was immediately hooked, and the dog trainer I was working under encouraged my dreams to pursue it as a profession.
I attended the Tom Rose School for Professional Dog Trainers from July 2011 through December 2011 and have been training all sorts of pups ever since. My training philosophy is a balanced method. I believe in using positive reinforcement to shape and mold desirable behavior and utilizing corrections to help keep the dog accountable. This approach ensures your dog knows what is acceptable, what is not acceptable, and generally how you’d like them to behave.
My first training school dog was a Yellow Lab named Tucker. I later added a Belgian Malinois named Ahiga. Both dogs were trained in obedience, tracking, detection, and protection. During school, I also had the opportunity to work with board and train dogs, conduct private lessons, and instruct group classes.
Although it’s been over 10 years since my initial schooling, I know that learning never stops. Every dog that I’ve had the privilege to work with has taught me something new. The most important lesson that I’ve learned is to work the dog in front of me. Each dog is unique and learns at its own pace with its own motivators. I believe the training approach should be tailored to each individual dog.
I have seen it all… from the crazy puppy to the reactive dog. All our pups need is some structure and guidance for them to live their best life.
Thank you for taking the time to allow me to introduce myself and please feel free to ask any questions. I'm always here to help!
